There is no school in Jerome today. Not because of the weather, but because the lack of teachers. Some on social media are saying teachers are upset that the district decided not to go to a 4 day a week schedule.
Governor Brad Little said he is sending two more teams of Idaho State police troopers to the Texas Mexico border to assist with securing the nations border. Little said he proclaimed January Idaho Stands with Texas in securing the nations border month.
A man’s body found in a farmer’s field last week near Idaho Falls has been identified by local law enforcement. The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office said the man is 37 year old Cory Nichols and he is believed to be homeless from the Bonneville County area.
Latah County District Judge John C. Judge held off Friday on setting a trial date for Bryan Kohberger, the 29-year-old Pennsylvania criminologist accused of killing four University of Idaho students in a 4 a.m. ambush in November 2022, over concerns by prosecutors and defense lawyers about the time it would take to be ready for the proceeding. Judge also denied a motion to dismiss the quadruple murder charges against Kohberger, citing potential delays to the case, and denied a defense request to appeal to the Idaho Supreme Court.
A proposed new amendment to the Idaho Constitution would ask Idaho voters to decide in November whether to limit the length of any special session of the Idaho Legislature to 20 days. The Idaho Legislature’s Senate State Affairs Committee voted Friday to send Senate Joint Resolution 104 to the floor of the Idaho Senate with a recommendation it passes.
The Hawai’i Island Police said a missing woman visiting from Idaho has been found. Police said she was found Saturday morning in the Puna district and was in good health. She had been reported missing Thursday, Jan. 25.
The two police dogs that were stabbed by a suspect who police later shot have been released. The dogs were seriously injured by a man who authorities later shot south of Boise.
