After largely negative public testimony, Idaho legislators advanced a bill Monday that would require public and school libraries to create a review process and to restrict children’s access to harmful materials following complaints. The bill would allow people to sue Idaho libraries.
19 year old Logan Penner was sentenced to at least 15 years in prison after being charged with 2nd degree murder in the death of a 2 month old baby. The child died from being shaken in November of 2022.
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game, is warning Ketchum residents that two younger mountain lions have been roaming through neighborhoods and getting very close to houses. IDFG said they have had 17 calls this year about mountain lions in the Magic Valley Region, with most calls coming from Ketchum and Hailey.
This week, Idaho drivers saw a rise in the state’s average price of gasoline for the first time this year. According to AAA, today’s average price for a gallon of regular in the Gem State is $2.92, which is three cents more than a week ago, but 16 cents less than a month ago and 75 cents cheaper than a year ago. The national average currently sits at $3.20 per gallon. Today, Idaho ranks 34th in the country for most expensive fuel.
Idaho legislators introduced a bill on Wednesday to criminalize advertising illegal services or products like marijuana in Idaho. Marijuana is illegal in Idaho and in federal law. But states surrounding Idaho, like Washington, Montana, Nevada and Oregon, have legalized marijuana for recreational use in recent years.
The prosecutor of the man accused of murdering four University of Idaho students has hit back against what he called a "premature" bid to change the trial venue. 29 year old Bryan Kohberger is charged with four counts of murder and one count of burglary in connection to the four University of Idaho students who were found fatally stabbed in an off-campus rental home in Moscow, Idaho, on November 13, 2022. He faces the death penalty if convicted.
