Idaho state police say a 29 year old female died over the weekend after being struck by a train.  It happened in Payette county Friday evening around 6:30.  The woman was walking on the tracks when she was hit. 


Two people were killed in Bannock county Saturday afternoon in a head on collision.  One of the victims was from Preston the other from Hyrum Utah.


Idaho lawmakers are working to get an official state license plate featuring the Gadsden flag, the yellow flag from the Revolutionary War era featuring a coiled rattlesnake and the phrase “Don’t Tread on Me,” serving as a popular symbol of opposition to the violation of personal liberties. 


In an effort to block a proposed open primary ballot initiative, a Republican Idaho legislator is proposing an amendment to the Idaho Constitution that would limit elections to one round of voting.  Rep. Vito Barbieri is sponsoring the proposed amendment, House Joint Resolution 3. If ratified it would prohibit ranked choice voting, which is one of the components of the open primary ballot initiative that supporters hope to qualify for November. 


The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals panel in San Francisco has decided not to delay Idaho’s scheduled execution of one of the nation’s longest-serving death row inmates. 73 year old Thomas Creech has been convicted of five murders: three in Idaho, one in California and one in Oregon. But he has confessed to dozens of killings. 


Lawmakers should take “appropriate legal action” against the proposed University of Phoenix acquisition, according to an attorney for the Legislature. Elizabeth Bowen says the State Board of Education has no power to acquire Phoenix, and move the for-profit online school under the umbrella of a nonprofit aligned with the University of Idaho.


This morning, there are several weather warnings and advisories from the national weather service.  A winter storm warning for up to 9 to 18 inches of snow combined with wind in Blaine County.  A Wind advisory with up to 55 miles an hour for southern Idaho and Twin Falls county could see 1 to 4 inches of snow today.
