Police say in Wendell yesterday a tree trimming truck crashed into an insurance building on west main and North Wallace Street just after 5 pm.  The truck came to rest on its side.  The driver suffered a medical emergency and died at the scene. 


A car and a garage were damaged by fire yesterday afternoon around 4:30.  Twin Falls fire said they responded to the 100 block of Jefferson Street.  Crews spent about 12 minutes knocking down  the flames. 


Yesterday, the Federal Trade Commission sued to block a proposed merger between grocery giants Kroger and Albertsons, saying the $24.6 billion deal would eliminate competition and lead to higher prices.  Kroger and Albertsons agreed to merge in October 2022. The companies said it would help them better compete with Walmart, Amazon, Costco and other big rivals. Together, Kroger and Albertsons would control around 13% of the grocery market; Walmart 22%.


Local religious communities, civil rights organizations and activists are co-sponsoring discussions, protests and vigils prior to the scheduled execution of Thomas Creech.  They are hosting discussions, protests and vigils prior to the scheduled execution tomorrow.


According to AAA, Idaho’s average price for a gallon of regular is $3.11 today, which is 11 cents higher than a week ago and 19 cents more than a month ago, but still 52 cents cheaper than a year ago.  Meanwhile, the national average currently sits at $3.26 per gallon.


Governor Brad Little signed a bill yesterday that added fentanyl trafficking to the states mandatory minimum sentencing laws.  Now those convicted face three years in prison and a 10-thousand dollar fine.  The maximum penalty is 10 years in prison and a 25-thousand dollar fine. 


AT&T is reimbursing customers for the nearly 12-hour network outage on Thursday.  The mobile network will issue a $5 credit to potentially impacted AT&T Wireless customers, which it says is the average cost of a full day of service.
