Another major school choice bill has failed in the Idaho Legislature.   The House Revenue and Taxation Committee narrowly rejected House Bill 447, which would have created a $50 million tax credit and grant program to subsidize private school tuition.

The Senate Health and Welfare Committee is discussing draft legislation, that advocates for foster care reform are hoping will help protect Idaho's children.  One addresses short-term rentals in foster care. The other would create oversight that would be independent for child welfare.

Idaho could again have a presidential primary election.  The Idaho Senate on Tuesday passed Senate Bill 1415 on a 31-4 vote. Under the bill, political parties would have the option of using results from the reinstated primary election to award delegates to presidential candidates, or they could choose to hold their own caucus again.

The Republican-controlled Idaho House of Representatives voted Tuesday to pass a bill banning cities and counties from restricting knives, despite concerns raised that passing the bill would force municipal performing arts centers to allow knives at public concerts and performances. It now heads next to the Idaho Senate for consideration.

Last night around 9, Twin Falls Police arrested 55 year old Jeffrey Krohn who earlier in the day they had pursued.  Krohn who was wanted by the Idaho State Penitentiary, had abandoned his vehicle at the corner of Mountain view and South Temple.  He has been serving time for possession of a controlled substance.

The Idaho supreme court has denied a pretrial appeal by Bryan Kohberber who had hoped to delay his murder trial and possibly throw out the grand Jury indictment.  He claimed the jurors had been given improper instructions.  He is charged with the deaths of four U of I students in November of 2022.

Bellevue resident Charles Christopher Holloway has been sentenced to spending at least 25 years to possibly life in prison for the murder of Joshua Takacs. The incident occurred on August 24 of last year.
