Without any real debate, the Idaho House of Representatives passed a new joint memorial that again makes it clear Idaho Republican legislators oppose removing or breaching dams from the Columbia River and Snake River systems and their tributaries.  The Idaho House voted to pass a request that was addressed to President Joe Biden, Congress and Idaho’s congressional delegation.

A bill that ends rental application fee ordinances is headed to the Idaho governor’s desk after passing both legislative chambers. Its purpose is to prevent local governments from enforcing local rent control ordinances.


A resolution that would’ve let Idaho voters decide whether special sessions of the Idaho Legislature should be limited to 20 days was halted in the Idaho Legislature. It’s not clear if the bill would advance this legislative session, which legislative leaders have said they hope to wrap up on Friday.


An Idaho judge only required Attorney General Raúl Labrador’s office to pay a small share of attorney fees in lawsuits connected to an investigation into a scrutinized child care grant program.  A Judge denied requests by current and former Idaho Department of Health and Welfare officials to have Labrador’s office pay $186,000 in attorneys fees. Instead, Idaho’s top attorney’s office must pay $9,500.


Idaho’s newest library bill targeting harmful material for children is moving forward in the Idaho Legislature. Last week, the bill was left undecided by the committee because of time constraints, following testimonies from 29 out of 30 individuals speaking against the bill, including library staff, board members, and patrons.


Bond has been set for Skylar Meade and Nicholas Umphenour who were arraigned in an Ada County courtroom yesterday. The two led authorities on a two day statewide manhunt ending in Twin Falls last week.  Bond was set at two million dollars apiece. Both Meade and Umphenour will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on April 8th at the Ada County Courthouse.
