Prosecutors will make their final arguments to jurors today in the case of an Idaho man accused of killing his wife and his new girlfriend’s two youngest children. The trial of Chad Daybell has already lasted roughly two months. If convicted, he faces the death penalty.
On May 21, Idahoans cast their ballots in one of the state’s most expensive primary elections. According to campaign finance records as of May 21, Idaho legislative candidates raised more than $4.6 million to their campaigns, including individual reports of donations that exceed $1,000.
With its deal with the University of Idaho in limbo, the University of Phoenix could begin entertaining new offers. Phoenix’s owners have floated the idea of non-exclusivity. Ridley’s grocery store in Jerome was evacuated yesterday afternoon on the report of the possibility of electrical smoke. Just after 4 those in the building were told to evacuate by the fire department. No fire was found and the incident was turned over to an electrical company to further investigate.
The hearing for Athena Miller was continued in Jerome yesterday. She along with Nicholas James, have been charged with the murder of Roger Driesel. Athena’s hearing was continued for June 11th.
Officials with the rock creek fire district said they plan to place a supplemental levy request back on the November election ballots. Earlier this month voters said no to the idea of a permanent 1 point 3 million dollar levy.
Election season is wrapping up. The Secretary of State's Office gathered in the capital on Tuesday, May 28, to ensure voting accuracy. The State Board of Canvassers randomly drew names for eight counties that the state will hand count votes for from this year's primary election. Bannock, Boundary, Canyon, Cassia, Fremont, Madison, Payette and Valley Counties were selected.
