It’s primary election day in Idaho.  Voters will be going to the polls today to decide Idaho's representatives to the U.S. House, the entire Idaho Legislature, county offices and many school funding proposals.  The election will determine which candidates will be in the general election in November.



A complicated and competing network of outside groups has funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars into today’s legislative primaries.  All told, well over a million dollars was spent on advertising in various ways. 



The Idaho Department of Finance is warning the public against scams that involve the physical purchase and delivery of gold and other precious metals.  Victims believe their financial accounts have been compromised. They are then directed to purchase physical gold or precious metals and turn that over to couriers posing as professionals.



The Minidoka School district called a special meeting yesterday to discuss financial issues.  A report showed the district would be 4 to 5 million dollars short for the school year.  According to the district, 39 certified staff members and 24 classified staffers were cut to help with reducing the budget. 



Through June 2nd, Idaho State Police troopers will take part in a statewide effort to enforce seat belt laws.  A survey shows 87-percent in the state wear belts but 66% of those killed were not wearing a safety belt. 



A waterline repair will force lane closures at the intersection of Kimberly Road and Blue Lakes Boulevard, also known as South Five Points, beginning at 5 a.m. today.  The outside eastbound lane on Second Avenue South will be closed at the approach to the intersection, and the northbound lane on Blue Lakes Boulevard South will be closed from the existing project closure to the intersection at Kimberly Road.



The Idaho Transportation Department has chosen Sundt Construction to build the Heyburn Interchange in Heyburn, Idaho.  The current interchange, according to ITD is 60 years old, and the project to replace it will cost $91 million.

Saturday:  A 20 percent chance of showers after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 68.
