But 13 states including Idaho have opted out of the federal program, citing their opposition to cover administrative costs. Under the new $2.5 billion program eligible low-income households will receive a total of $120 per child.

The Idaho Democratic Party is holding a Day of Action for Idaho Libraries today. The Idaho Democratic Party is showing support for librarians across the state as House Bill 710 takes effect. The Bill requires Idaho libraries to put books that have been deemed inappropriate into an adult's only section, requiring libraries to create the new sections without funding to do so.
Nearly three weeks after the catastrophic failure of the main highway connecting Wyoming to southeast Idaho, drivers are once again using the thoroughfare. A massive landslide on June 8 knocked out State Highway 22 that runs through the Teton Pass, which connects Jackson, Wyoming, with Idaho. The event forced drivers to take a detour of 85 miles.
The U.S. Department of the Interior announced that Idaho’s 44 counties will receive a total of $41.2 million in Payments in Lieu of Taxes for 2024. Those payments help offset the costs of maintaining essential services in areas with tax-exempt federal lands. Elmore County received the most funding, with $3.2 million for 1.4 million acres.
A Bannock County Sheriff’s deputy has been put on leave after being charged with felonies for sexual battery on a minor. 26-year-old Trevor Aaron Ranere is facing two counts of sexual battery on a minor.
The Rexburg home belonging to Chad Daybell is up for sale for an asking price of $350,000. Chad’s daughter and her family have lived in the house since their father’s arrest. Chad’s attorney, John Prior, became the owner of the property in 2021.
