This morning the Bench Lake fire burning near Red Fish Lake is 13 percent contained.  At last check the fire is estimated to be 25 hundred 38 acres in size.  Approximately 439 personnel

are helping to fight the fire. This morning the incident meteorologist forecasts a dry cold front, likely to include an increased chance of thunderstorms and gusty winds.



Ammon Bundy, the far-right activist who led the takeover of a federal wildlife refuge in eastern Oregon, has declared bankruptcy after loss in a defamation suit against St. Luke’s hospital last year that required him to pay over $50 million in damages. In the year since, Bundy had reportedly lost his home and went into hiding in Utah.  Bundy and Diego Rodriguez were accused of making defamatory statements after Rodriguez’s infant grandson was removed from his family for several days and taken to St. Luke’s, due to severe malnutrition concerns.



Idaho Democrats are praising President Joe Biden after he announced he would be dropping out of the election.  Party Chair Lauren Necochea thanked Biden for his leadership and dedication to the nation.  She praised him for his policies and the chips and science act.



The two women who were arrested in connection to the July 12 murder of a man at Martin Landing Campground near Parma were in court on Friday.  Melissa Fay Calumpit and Rosalie Lynn Morris were arrested Thursday for the July 12 murder of Milissa's estranged husband Travis Travis Haywood Calumpit.  Their bonds were set at $2 million each.



A house fire has claimed the life of one and sent another to the hospital in Meridian.  Fire crews responded to a structure fire near the intersection of Black Cat Road and West Vaquero Lane just after 7 p.m. on Friday.  They worked to rescue the two residents, one man died at the scene and a woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.



Idaho Governor Brad Little has appointed Blaine Cannon to be the 5th district judge.  He will serve in Cassia County where he has worked for more than 26 years.  He was appointed Magistrate judge in 2012.
