A wildfire that was reported Saturday in Magic Valley continues to burn.  At last check the Magic Water fire burning 8 miles northwest of Buhl has consumed 25hundred acres so far.  One dairy operator said his power was cut off Sunday.  According to Idaho Power’s outage map there are no reports of power off this morning.



Other large fires burning on Idaho lands, include the Limepoint fire north of Oxbow dam in Adams County has burned nearly 32,000 acres and is 51% contained.  The Bench lake fire south of Stanley burned over 2500 acres and is 90 percent contained. The Wapiti fire southwest of Grandjean is 10% contained and has destroyed 6 cabins.  The Boulder fire near Donnelly is 26% contained.



Investigators used DNA to track down and arrest a suspect last week in the 1973 sexual assault and killing of a woman at her home in Marin County.  75 year old Michael Eugene Mullen was arrested in Lemhi County in connection with the death of Nina "Nadine" Fischer in November 1973.



A motorcyclist was killed yesterday afternoon near Wendell when a car turned into its path.  ISP said it happened at 3287 south and 1500 east in Gooding County.  A 18 year old Wendell woman who was a passenger on the motorcycle died at the scene.  The Motorcycle driver was seriously injured. 



The Twin Falls Mainline Canal breached yesterday afternoon sending water spilling onto nearby roads.  It happened near 3800 east two miles south of Hansen.  The water drained into the Twin Falls Coulee.  The water also closed the road between 3400 north and 3500 north.  Workers are using gravel to slow the water flow. 



Idaho Attorney General Raul Labrador has refiled a lawsuit against Idahoans for open primaries.  This comes just days after the Idaho Supreme Court rejected his previous lawsuit.  Labrador claims voters are being misled and didn't know they were signing a petition that also institutes ranked-choice voting.

Tuesday Night:  Patchy smoke. Mostly clear, with a low around 59. Light and variable wind becoming south southwest around 6 mph after midnight.

 

Wednesday:  Sunny, with a high near 84. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday Night:  Mostly clear, with a low around 54.

 

Thursday:  Sunny and hot, with a high near 90.

Thursday Night:  Mostly clear, with a low around 56.
