32 Year old Kevin Kuintzle of Twin Falls, who is accused of the shooting death of Jerome resident Bill Eakin on September 16th had his preliminary hearing postponed for at least 60 days. The hearing was supposed to be yesterday. Meanwhile his friend, 42 year old Erika Brock’s hearing was vacated as well. Both public defenders in the case are asking for more time.
Lori Vallow Daybell’s appeals attorney filed an amended notice of appeal yesterday. They are appealing to the Idaho state Supreme Court about the judgement of conviction. No court date has been set.
The new COVID-19 vaccine is available in Idaho, while the coronavirus spreads around the state more than usual lately. The uptick in spread is nowhere near as sharp as huge spikes during the pandemic. But experts still say it’s worth getting the new vaccine to avoid the inconveniences of isolation and health woes of serious cases. Dr. Christine Hahn, Idaho’s epidemiologist, in an interview this week, likened the current state of COVID-19 to past fall seasons, as peaks approached.
Idaho State University has been awarded 330 thousand dollars a year for five years to assist training and improve health care in rural communities. 8 million dollars total was awarded to 18 primary care residency training programs throughout the country,
New data from spring assessments show that Idaho students are outperforming their national peers in early literacy. It also shows losses in proficiency levels on the Idaho Standards Achievement Test. Each spring and fall, Idaho students in kindergarten through third grade take the Idaho Reading Indicator. The assessment is used to gauge how well Idaho students are reading.
The Idaho transportation department is looking to replace the dry Creek Bridge along highway 30 and they want to hear your thoughts. The bridge built in the 1930’s is located just north of Murtaugh Lake. The ITD will have an open house next Wednesday afternoon starting at 3:30 in the Murtaugh high school cafeteria.
