Boise State received a commitment on Wednesday from former five-star wide receiver and the nation's No. 1 JUCO prospect Chris Marshall. Marshall spent the past season at Kilgore College in Texas. His college career began in 2022 at Texas A&M after graduating from Fort Bend Marshall High School.
An assistant wrestling coach at Rocky Mountain High School has been banned for life by the Third District Board of Control which governs Idaho High School sports, after punching a Nyssa High School wrestler. The incident happened on Sat, Jan. 20, at a tournament at Skyview High School in Nampa when Russell Brunson, who has been the assistant wrestling coach for the past four years, jumped onto the mat and hit a Nyssa freshman multiple times in the head and ribs during a match between the freshman and Brunson's son.
Boise State women's basketball fell to UNLV, 84-63, on Wednesday night at ExtraMile Arena. Boise State is set to hit the road and take on San Diego State at Viejas Arena on Saturday, Jan. 27. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m.
The Idaho High School Boys state media poll was released this week. In 4A play, Canyon Ridge is ranked 5th. In 3A Kimberly is in 3rd place. Lighthouse Christian in Twin Falls is ranked 5th in division 1A D-1. In D-2 Camas County is ranked 1st.
From the local hardwood yesterday, first for the boys, Minico defeated Burley 58 to 46. Buhl said no to Declo 62 to 56. Twin Falls outlasted Jerome 65 to 42. It was Canyon Ridge 70 Mountain Home 31.
For the girls, Filer slipped past Gooding 70 to 42. Declo said no to West Side 68 to 40. Murtaugh downed Carey 55 to 39. Oakley told Valley no way with a score of 59 to 36. Raft River outlasted Glenns Ferry 58 to 40 and Shoshone bested Hansen 54 to 23. It was Castleford 59 Lighthouse Christian 12.

Firth to Declo and Murtaugh boards the bus to Twin Falls to play Lighthouse Christian. Glenns Ferry will travel to Oakley. Hansen travels to Valley.
For the girls, Jerome travels to Canyon Ridge, Richfield will visit Dietrich. Carey goes to Glenns Ferry. Minico to Mountain Home. Hansen to Oakley and Burley travels to Preston. Wood River heads north to Wood River.
