The state boy’s high school basketball games progressed over the weekend. On Friday, Twin Falls downed Sandpoint 75 to 56 in 4A play. Twin Falls advanced to play Blackfoot Saturday morning. That’s after Blackfoot defeated Minico 48 to 45. Twin Falls took on the Blackfoot Broncos and defeated them 62-58.
In 3A play, Kimberly defeated Filer 57 to 55. Kimberly took on Homedale in the consolation championship Saturday morning. Kimberly took the win 72 to 58.
In 2A play, Firth defeated Declo 58 to 49 on Friday.
In 1AD1 action, Victory Charter outlasted Oakley 59 to 58.
Valley defeated Liberty Charter 50 to 48. Valley then took on Victory Charter Saturday to determine the consolation championship. Victory charter took the win over Valley 70 to 61.
In 1AD2 games, Camas County defeated Cascade 55 to 49 on Friday. On Saturday Camas County took the win over Kendrick 56 to 42.
In Men’s college Basketball, two Broncos had double-doubles, two had 20-point outings, and a dominant effort on the glass led to an 89-79 victory over New Mexico, Saturday night at ExtraMile Arena. The win keeps Boise State at the top of the conference standings in a tie with Utah State. Boise State closes out its home schedule tomorrow against Nevada. Tipoff is at 9 p.m. MT as the Broncos will honor their senior class prior to the game.
The Idaho State men's basketball team played their final game in Reed Gym of the 2023-24 season last night. Northern Colorado took the win 81 to 79. The Idaho State men's basketball team will have their 2023-24 season finale tonight in Missoula, Montana at 7 pm. As the University of Montana Griz host the Bengals for the final regular season game of the year before the Big Sky Conference Tournament kicks off in Boise, Idaho on March 9th.
The Idaho State lady Bengals fell to the UNC Bears 63-51 Saturday afternoon in Greeley, Colorado.
Boise State softball dropped both ends of a doubleheader to No. 20 California at the DeMarini Invitational, Sunday. The Golden Bears won the opener 6-4 and took the nightcap 8-2 over the Broncos. Boise State opens its home schedule in the Blue Collar Classic against Kennesaw State, Thursday at 5 p.m.
The Idaho State Bengals softball team dropped the final two games of the 2024 CBU Lancers Invite Sunday morning in Riverside, Calif. The Bengals fell 6-1 to St. John's and then 2-1 to Cal Poly University. The Bengals head to Fort Collins next week to take on the Colorado State Rams Invitational where they will face Colorado State, Drake and Maine.
The College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball Team defeated North Idaho College 92-73 Saturday, winning its final Scenic West Athletic Conference game before the Region 18 Tournament this week. The Golden Eagles, 22-8 overall and 9-3 in conference play, will be the two seed in the Region 18 Tournament that begins Friday.
The College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball Team beat North Idaho College 76-63 Saturday night to finish out the regular season of Scenic West Athletic Conference play. CSI, 25-5 overall and 8-2 in conference play, will compete at the Region 18 Tournament in two weeks as the two seed.
The College of Southern Idaho's Cayden Tupper claimed sixth place in the mile Saturday at the NJCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field National Championships. The Golden Eagles will open the outdoor track season the end of March. The College of Southern Idaho Women's Indoor Track Team followed day one of the NJCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field National Championships with another third-place finish on Saturday.
On Saturday the College of Southern Idaho Softball outlasted Southern Nevada for three wins, beating the Coyotes 15-10, 15-7 and 27-4 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play. CSI, 13-5 overall and 4-0 in conference play, travels to Treasure Valley tomorrow for a double header before hosting Salt Lake CC next Friday and Saturday.
