In high school district softball yesterday, the Kimberly Bulldogs took the win over Gooding 17 to 5. Kimberly will now host Gooding tomorrow at 5:00 for the championship. Elsewhere Jerome took the win over Minico 13 to 5 and Burley defeated Canyon Ridge 9 to 8. Jerome will host Burley today. Minico and Canyon Ridge are eliminated. Filer was eliminated after Kimberly took the win 16 to 6. It was Declo 14 Wendell 3 in Game one. In game two, it was Declo 15 Wendell 9. The Hornets took home their eighth straight district title.
In baseball district games, Wood River defeated Canyon Ridge 10 to 3. It was Mountain Home for the win over Burley 10 to 8. Wood River will take on Mountain Home today on the road. Canyon Ridge and Burley are eliminated. It was Buhl 12 Gooding 4. Buhl will play Saturday in Pocatello in the state play-in game. Gooding is eliminated. Lighthouse Christian squeaked past Vision Charter to take the win 12 to 11. It was Glenns Ferry 6 Idaho City 4. Lighthouse and Glenns Ferry will square off tomorrow for the championship.
The Idaho State Bengal Track and Field team kicked off the 2024 Outdoor Track and Field Championships Wednesday in Bozeman, Montana. Not only were the Bengals battling against the top T&F athletes in the conference but also mother nature as a winter storm descended on the campus of Montana State. Facing strong winds and deep snow storms, the Bengals persisted and the championships started with the multi's day one events. The Bengals complete the multi-events today. The general track and field events will begin Friday and continue into Saturday.
